Easee’s RCD is compliant with European standards
The RCD and all other product-related issues have been thoroughly tested and proven compliant with European standards.
The process with the Swedish authorities uncovered that Easee had gaps in their technical documentation for Easee Home and Easee Charge when the two charging products were launched in 2019. It was, among other things, declared conformity towards the wrong standard for RCDs.
The company has spent the previous year fixing the issue alongside independent, accredited test laboratories and experts to fill the gaps. Now, Easee can finally close out the last demands from the Swedish government through new and improved technical documentation.
In the improved technical documentation, Easee will declare conformity with the more appropriate standard for RCD*, and the charging units have gone through extensive laboratory tests to prove that the safety requirements in the standard are met.
Independent experts
As an independent expert, Rejlers have for a long period of time supported Easee with multiple tasks related to both existing and new products. The work has been a constructive collaboration between Easee, accredited test laboratories and Rejlers.
– Our contribution has mainly consisted of guidance in relevant regulations, cooperation with test institutes and thoroughly going through the product documentation, test reports, risk assessments and other aspects within conformity. Through the accredited test houses, we have conducted extensive testing based on the relevant standards for EV chargers, and the results show that the RCD and all other safety aspects of these products are compliant. Our team have done an important job, and we a delighted to see that the products have all the safety functions that surpass the requirements of the standards, states division director in Rejlers, Ragnar Holtan.
– We have never doubted that our products are among the safest of EV chargers, and it gives us great confidence to have updated test reports that confirm this, once again,” says Chief of legal
and compliance in Easee, Lene Kristine Wilhelmsen.
This is a milestone for Easee, who are now finally able to look ahead, and simultaneously for the respected electricians and valued customers who can get the confirmation they deserve to feel safe.
– It has been a rough year, but we are thankful for Elsäkerhetsverket and that they made us aware of the gaps in our documentation. We feel stronger than ever and are left with what probably is the most tested and documented charging platform in the world,” concludes Wilhelmsen.
Technical addition*
When Easee launched the products Home and Charge in 2019, they declared conformity towards the RCD standard EN 61008-1 as part of the overall compliance towards the charging standard EN IEC 61851-1. In the updated declaration of conformity, Easee will declare compliance with IEC 60947-2, in addition to the detection element of the DC standard IEC 62955. All aspects of the products are tested and found in compliance with relevant requirements by accredited test laboratories.
