With the Easee Equalizer, we take energy management to a new level. This small yet mighty device allows you to use all available power to charge your electric vehicle(s) by constantly balancing the available energy between your home and your charger to distribute it efficiently where needed.

Phase balancing

Connect the Easee Equalizer directly to your meter to monitor energy consumption and enable real-time adjustment of charging speed based on available energy. The communication between chargers and the Equalizer is handled 100% locally via our Easee LinkTM radio technology. Internet is only required for app and software updates.

Easee’s unique phase balancing matrix inside all our chargers allows for automatic selection between 1-phase or 3-phase charging, based on the available capacity on each phase. In contrast to traditional chargers without phase balancing technology, this makes it possible to utilize close to 100% of the available energy in your home.

Time for the science part

In the following examples we explain why phase balancing is particularly important when power capacity is limited. Easee’s phase balancing technology will ensure you can continue charging when other traditional chargers would stop.

Home consumption

This is an ordinary example of ongoing consumption in a home with a 3-phase power supply. The load is unevenly distributed in relation to the use of different appliances.

Charging on all three phases is only possible if each phase can be loaded equally. This means that phase 1 in this example determines the maximum phase loads.

An EV is trying to start charging with the minimum required charging current (6A). Without at least 6A available on each phase, charging cannot start. If charging was allowed, the main fuse would trip.

An EV is connected and starts charging on phase 2. When 3-phase charging is not possible, the charger will automatically select the phase with the most available capacity.
