For two years, installers and fleet operators have had to guess which certification tier to back and when AFIR and ISO 15118 requirements would actually bite. From 1 January 2027, Easee removes that speculation: Charge Max and Charge Pro become the company’s only chargers sold into EU markets, both built to MID, Eichrecht, AFIR and V2X standards as they leave the factory.

Stavanger, Norway. 22nd September: AFIR and ISO 15118 compliance has not landed on a single date. It has arrived in stages, revised deadlines and diverging national interpretations, and every charger manufacturer selling into the EU has left its customers to work out which product will still be compliant once the rules catch up. That uncertainty has driven as much buying behaviour as the hardware itself.

Easee is closing that question rather than managing it product by product. From 1 January 2027, Easee Charge Max and Easee Charge Pro become the company’s only chargers in EU markets: Charge Max for home charging, Charge Pro for apartment buildings, workplaces and commercial sites. Both combine MID-certified metering with ISO 15118 support and V2X-ready hardware as standard, so every unit ships compliant with the upcoming AFIR requirements rather than upgradeable towards them.

Charge Up and Charge Core were designed before AFIR’s metering and V2X requirements existed, and cannot be brought up to that standard. The previously announced Charge Up2 would have closed the gap only for home charging, duplicating Charge Max while leaving the same open question everywhere else. Rather than add a fourth product to manage around the gap, Easee is removing it: two chargers, one compliance position, no certification tier for customers or installers to weigh up.

In practice, this means:

  • Easee Charge Core will be phased out in EU markets by 31 December 2026
  • Easee Charge Up will be phased out in EU markets by the same date
  • The last-buy date for Charge Core and Charge Up in EU markets is 31 October 2026
  • Easee Charge Up2 will not be launched

Norway and Switzerland sit outside the EU and outside this timeline. Charge Up will stay available in those markets for as long as it meets the relevant local requirements.

The UK is not affected and continues with its existing product range. Installed Charge Up and Charge Core units remain fully supported under Easee’s warranty and service commitments.
